IT Service Helpdesk

The Helpdesk is available Monday to Thursday between 8:00am to 5:00pm and on Fridays between 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Computer Availability

There are a number of student PCs available in the University Centre, in both the Research Centre (first floor) and HE Study Zone (second floor). These computers do not need to be booked and can be used at any time during the University Centre’s opening hours. 

Book a Laptop for use on Campus

You can book a laptop by emailing [email protected] or visiting the HE Faculty Office. 

Changing/Forgotten your Password 

Onsite – When logged into a PC press ‘Ctrl, Alt & Delete’ will bring up a pop-up box.  The top option is ‘change my password’.

Email and Office 365 

As a UCSD student, Microsoft Office 365 is available for you to download for free. This includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and more applications. 

You will need your student number and password to login and download. You can install Office on up to five personal PC or Mac computers, five mobile, and five tablet devices. 

Please note installations for students will expire after study is completed. 

Within the Computer Skills Step Up to HE activity, you will find further information and links relating to each office program, such as MS Teams, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Internet Access

Student Wi-Fi is available. You can access it on your phone or laptop by inserting your student number, or student email for some devices, and password in your device’s Wi-Fi settings. 

Guest Wi-Fi is also available, you do not need a password.

Printing, Scanning, and Photocopying 

All UCSD students automatically have a print credit account, which enables printing or copying at any colour or black and white MFD (multifunctional device) at A4 or A3 size.  

In the University Centre, the MFDs are located in the Research Centre (first floor) and on the second floor outside the classroom Raleigh.

SDConnect

As a UCSD student or applicant, you will have access to the SDConnect app! 

SDConnect will allow you to: 

  • Communicate with your peers, lecturers, and personal tutor

Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

To support you with your studies at UCSD, you will have access to Moodle, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). 

Moodle is accessible via any computer, tablet, or mobile device, using your student login details. 

You will automatically be enrolled onto your course programme page on Moodle, containing all the information you need, including programme handbooks, module guides, assignment briefs, assessment schedules, and teaching materials.
