Student Innovation and Research Centre (SIRC)

The Student Innovation and Research Centre (SIRC) provides a hub for the advancement of skills, knowledge and behaviours through the collaborative triad of students, staff and innovating organisations, associated with a mutually valued project.

Our aspiration is to put students at the heart of what we do and release their potential for innovation and research. The SIRC supports our aspiration to develop our University Centre South Devon research portfolio, including assisting applications for Research and Innovation grants.

SIRC, which has been developed working with our partner university, University of Plymouth, aligns with the vision of the Electronic and Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC) promoting local synergy whilst maintaining our uniqueness of being student focused.

The building is designed so that the space is flexible in its use and made accessible for more than solely technology-based projects. Therefore, it aspires to facilitate research and innovation projects that empowers South Devon College collaboration between curriculum areas and specialist at all levels and stages or learning.

The innovation and research will feed into the national evidence base by publishing an annual University Centre South Devon Student Innovation and Research Journal.
