University Centre South Devon’s Clinical Education Team have increased the opportunities available in hearing aid education with the introduction of the Aptitude Test in Hearing Aid Dispensing.
The Aptitude Test in Hearing Aid Dispensing is a distance learning programme designed to provide the opportunity for suitably qualified audiology practitioners wanting to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered hearing aid dispenser.
The aptitude test has been given the go ahead after successfully receiving HCPC’s approval, of which the process took place over the past couple of months and follows on from the HCPC approval last year for the foundation degree in Hearing Aid Audiology.
Claire Langman – Clinical Education Manager said: “The addition of this programme to Clinical Education curricula will provide the opportunity for individuals working within audiology to undertake professional development to become registered with the HCPC, both enhancing their careers and developing the audiology service within the region.”
UCSD will become a leading provider of hearing aid education working with national employers including the NHS, alongside private independent providers, in order to support the development of this much sought-after role.
