Course Overview

The Engineering (photonic semiconductor manufacturing) qualification will prepare you to join the growing and exciting world of technology, by developing the skills you’ll need to succeed and enhance your career prospects. The Programme has been developed in partnership with local Hi-Tech companies, thus ensuring that you will learn the skills required by a new generation of engineers.

You will learn in our fully equipped workshops and additive manufacturing suite, which includes computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines, computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D printers. You will also learn in our dedicated electronic and photonics training suite. During your project-based modules, you will have access to our Student Innovation and Research Centre.

The FdSc Engineering (photonic semiconductor manufacturing) degree is available as a full-time or part-time Programme of study. There are flexible delivery options to ensure minimal impact on your existing responsibilities, including employment.

On completion of the foundation degree, you can progress onto the top-up BSc (Hons) Integrated Technologies Engineering.

The full time fees for the academic year 2024-25 are:

  • BA and BSc (Hons) – £9000.00 (per year)
  • Foundation Degree (FdA and FdSc) – £8825.00 (per year)
  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) – £8825.00 (per year)
